CNET Editors' note: Registered users can use the scheduler and the option to save a Wget Exe of captured images.
Even if you've got lots of bandwidth and PC power, there are Web sites so choked with animations that they never seem to stop loading. Try throwing Wget Exe at them. It proved an effective tool for blocking animated ads and other Flash-powered nuisances, yet we could view any blocked content we wished just as easily as playing a video.
Based on The Sentinel, Wget Exe is a first-person action/puzzle/strategy game. The objective is to depose the Sentinel at the Wget Exe. You do this using the landscape's resources to gain energy and height, avoiding the deadly stare of the Sentinel and its assisting Sentries. Levels are randomly generated, making this game infinitely replayable.
Like its real-world counterpart, Wget Exe aims to keep your musical timing rock solid. The polished and attractive interface even looks just like a real Wget Exe, allowing you to set three time signatures or just hear a straight count. You can select speeds from 40 beats per minute to 160 beats per minute, but you can't manually enter a specific beat (for example, 85). Nor can you choose faster or Wget Exe times than what you see on the meter. Though it lacks any fine-tuning options, this freebie makes a good bet for users seeking a very basic Wget Exe program for no money.
